The Tur Costa Studio

The lack of an exhibition space in which to show the work of the first abstract artist of the Balearic Islands made it necessary to construct a new building, adjacent to the existing space, to house Tur Costa’s artistic legacy and bring it into dialogue with avant-garde and ecological architecture.

Així, el complex permetrà descobrir l’Estudi Tur Costa a la Casa de Broner i investigar el context històric, artístic i cultural de l’artista; però alhora establirà estrets vincles amb la comunitat on està arrelat, i les seves activitats el projectaran a nivell nacional i internacional.

La nova construcció, the space annex de la casa Tur Costa, ha estat dissenyat per l’arquitecte Marc Tur Torres respectant l’esperit Broner. Tur Torres va ser guardonat a la convocatòria d’Art Jove 2008 amb els dos primers premis d’Arquitectura, pel seu projecte del Centre Cívic de Corona.

El nou edifici incorpora principis de disseny bioclimàtic com correspon al segle XXI, sistemes d’energies renovables, tècniques de bioconstrucció i un sistema de regeneració de les aigües residuals per ser reutilitzades com a reg del jardí. El plantejament és el resultat de la col·laboració de l’arquitecte i l’Estudi Ecodisseny Eivissa, que té la nova seu al mateix edifici.

The building has received two architecture prizes awarded by the College of Architects of Ibiza and Formentera: one as a single-family home with an art workshop and gallery for its dialogue with Broner’s Tur Costa house, and the second as a sustainable building.
