Luciérnaga ProJect

A cultural initiative that aims to give visibility to new ecosocial narratives that value the importance of sustainability in the face of the ecological and climate crisis, from Ibiza to the world.

MISSION

Before we regret what we have not done to reverse the ecosocial crisis, we must get excited about what we could do. Unfortunately, for the time being, empirical evidence of global warming and ethical mandates do not seem to be reason enough to precipitate the change in mentality we need.

However urgent it may be to rebuild our technocapitalist civilization on foundations other than unlimited growth, profit maximization, and consumerist individualism, we do not agree on the strategies we should follow to avoid civilizational collapse: sustainable development, degrowth, geoengineering, green economy…

In any case, the cultural fictions that have brought us this far no longer serve us to travel the path that leads to a utopian future, not only free of emissions and waste but also of inequalities and injustices.

Given that clean and renewable energy sources are not sufficient to supply our growing electricity consumption, an international carbon tax will never be approved for geopolitical reasons, and governments advocating reducing citizens' standard of living will not be re-elected, we will only be able to divert the suicidal course of industrial society if we change the plot of the stories we tell ourselves to live by.
